Following the success of our work in Altrincham, IntoPlaces applied the same proven, people-first model in partnership with Wirral Council to support the regeneration of Liscard town centre.
Context
Liscard had long struggled with negative perceptions, press coverage, and a general sense of neglect.
The town centre faced high vacancy rates, low footfall, and few incentives for people to visit, live, or invest.
Our approach: building ‘Liscard Together’
IntoPlaces formed a successful collaboration with local traders, businesses, residents, Merseyside Police, voluntary organisations and Wirral Council to launch a new public-private-community partnership: Liscard Together.
This formal partnership was built on a shared mission:
“Working together to create a welcoming, inclusive Liscard town centre that is vibrant, safe and green. A place that inspires people and businesses to flourish and unlocks the potential for all.”
This marked a turning point, creating a clear framework for collective action and enabling the community to take meaningful ownership of the town’s future.
Early results: achievements in year one
Despite regeneration being a long-term journey, Liscard Together has already delivered impressive, tangible outcomes in its first 12 months, including:
A growing sense of pride and possibility
Through stronger partnerships, increased visibility, and collaborative delivery, Liscard is regaining confidence. The town centre is becoming safer, greener, more welcoming, and more family-oriented, with residents and businesses re-engaging in shaping its future.
Key takeaway
Even in the face of long-term decline, a clear structure for collaboration – combined with community-led action and practical support – can lay the foundations for lasting change.
